Copyright and Publication Rights
The International Journal of Surgical and Medical Research (IJSMR) is committed to promoting the widest possible dissemination of scholarly research through an open-access publishing model that respects and protects authors’ intellectual property rights. Authors who publish in IJSMR retain full copyright ownership of their work and are not required to transfer copyright to the journal. By submitting and publishing their manuscript, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, preserve, and identify itself as the original publisher of the work. This arrangement allows authors to maintain complete control over their research while ensuring that the published article remains permanently available to the global scientific and medical community.
All articles published in IJSMR are made freely and immediately available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License. This license permits anyone to read, download, copy, distribute, print, share, adapt, translate, remix, transform, and build upon the published material for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), a link to the license is included, and any modifications made to the original work are clearly indicated. The CC BY 4.0 License promotes unrestricted access to knowledge while ensuring proper acknowledgment of the contributions of authors and researchers.
Because authors retain copyright, they are free to reuse, reproduce, and distribute their published work without seeking permission from the journal. Authors may incorporate their articles, figures, tables, illustrations, and research findings into future publications, books, presentations, educational materials, grant applications, and other scholarly works. Authors may also deposit and disseminate any version of their manuscript, including preprints, accepted manuscripts, and the final published version of record, in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, personal websites, academic networking platforms, and other lawful repositories immediately upon publication, provided that the original publication in IJSMR is properly cited.
To ensure transparency regarding reuse rights, each article published by IJSMR includes a clear copyright and licensing statement on both the article webpage and the published PDF version. Readers, researchers, educators, healthcare professionals, and policymakers worldwide are encouraged to use and share published content in accordance with the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
This Copyright and Publication Rights Policy is reviewed periodically to ensure continued alignment with international open-access publishing standards, best practices in scholarly communication, and the requirements of leading indexing and abstracting services. The policy may be updated as necessary to reflect developments in open-access licensing, digital publishing, and ethical publishing standards.
